Freemasons Donate US Flags to Shawano AMVETS

Brother Bill Mommaerts, Master of Shawano Freemasons Lodge No. 170 (not pictured), and Brother Blue (Mike) Peterson, Master of Mason-Woods Freemasons Lodge No. 368, recently presented Don Anderson of Shawano AMVETS Post 10 with a dozen American Flags to be presented to AMVETS.

The veterans of Post 10 are provided flags to keep with them, to replace those they may see which are in need of retiring. If the recipients wish, AMVETS members will put up a new flag — and also see to it that the deteriorated one is properly, honorably retired. Post 10 does this at no cost.

Many times, the old, tattered Stars and Stripes are being flown by a widow or senior who simply cannot replace their flag on their own. With this donation of US Flags from the Freemasons, the AMVETS will be able to bring smiles and brand new flags to many area patriots.

Don Anderson is the most active replacer of worn flags in the area as he commonly takes drives just to look for deteriorated flags in the community.
