Quincy Adams Freemasons host story contest for kids

Each year, Quincy Adams Freemasons Lodge No. 71 hosts a local “Short Story Contest” for local school aged kids. The stories are original pieces created by the youth in a subject matter of their choosing.

The contestants are divided into 3 age categories; 10 and under, 15 and under, and 18 and under. Each age group has ascending greater maximum word limits to the submitted story.

“It’s so very rewarding seeing the kids exercise their imagination and improve their writing skills from one year to the next” said Master Robert Theim, “Writing is a skill that these kids will take with them throughout their entire lives. If we can do something to help them improve that skill, then the program is the success.”

This year’s winners are front row from left: Violet Church, James Karnowski and Lilah Karnowski. Back row: Lillon Church, Richie Church, Master Robert Theim, Kennedy Manzer-Korbel, Maddie Shaske (Honorable Mention) and Cassidy Raymer.
