Blue Hills Lodge Donates to Rice Lake Snacks for Success Program

By Brother Mike Richter

The Brothers of Blue Hills Freemasons Lodge (No. 234) recently presented a $2,000 check to the Rice Lake Area School District (RLASD) Snacks for Success program.

This is a huge need for RLASD as there are many children who are unable to bring a midday snack with them to school. Being hungry during the middle of the day makes it extremely difficult for children to focus on their studies.

Jackie Healy, Chairperson of the Snacks for Success Committee, reached out to area businesses and non-profit organizations to request donations for the program. The Brothers of the Blue Hills Masonic Lodge heard the call and swiftly acted by pulling together their resources including the Grand Lodge Act of Kindness Matching Funds to make a generous donation.

Some of the Brothers were fortunate enough to be present during the presentation of the check and learned more about the needs of our area students. Pictured above from left: Mr. Kevin Jensen (School Board President), Mr. Randy Drost (School Dist. Administrator), Brother Greg Tinker, Master Rus LaPoint, Ms. Jackie Healy (Committee Chair), Brother Mike Richter, Brother Duke Thurs.

Being a Mason means supporting the communities we serve when possible — and this was a need that fit the mission of Masonry perfectly!
