This Golf Outing, sponsored by the Freemasons of Phillips Lodge (No. 225), is to raise funds to support scholarships for graduating seniors from the Phillips, Chequamegon, and Prentice High Schools.

The scholarship recipients for 2024 are Iliana Winter, Phillips, Grace Hulbert, Chequamegon, Faith Heilke, Prentice High Schools.

The Golf Outing kicked off at 1:30 p.m. with a shot gun start. There was a special Medford Ford sponsored prize on hole No. 5 for the male and female golfer who made it closest to the pin in one stroke. The winners are Jim McCormick for the men and Katie Desotelle for the women. Each won a $250 cash prize. New for this year was the “putting green challenge” which resulted in spirited competition.

The scratch and handicap divisions each offered cash prizes for the top three teams.

The Masonic Scholarship Golf Outing was initiated in 2005 by two Brothers of the Phillips Lodge, who were avid golfers, Brother Don Schmidt, and the late Brother Tom Boers in memory of Brother Brian Welker. It was started to fund scholarships for the local high schools. It has been held each year since 2005, except for 2020 due to Covid restrictions. Plans are underway for the Twentieth Annual Masonic Scholarship Golf Outing at the Westwood Golf Course on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
