Brother Sri Vasudevan awards scholarship to MATC nursing student

Jessica Gibbs is one of the first recipients of the Sri Vasudevan Scholarship. She is a full-time working student at Milwaukee Area Technical College and the only one of two other siblings attending college. Jessica is pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing. She says this scholarship was incredibly helpful to her as someone who is paying for college by themselves.

She chose Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) her college because she didn’t believe in the traditional college path. She wanted to work and take care of her mom, and MATC offered the flexibility and practical skills needed to succeed in the workforce while also being there for her family.

In her own words, “I am truly grateful for your kindness and support, and I will always carry the memory of your generosity with me as I continue on my educational journey. Thank you for making a difference in my life and for helping to lighten the financial burden that comes with pursuing higher education.”

The scholarship donor, Brother Sri Vasudevan , was raised a Master Mason in July 2021. At age 71, he was looking for another step on his journey of humility & gratitude he had begun a few years earlier. He says “I found it in Freemasonry”. He felt it was his duty to support charitable work like this scholarship, which has been established to support Milwaukee Area Technical College students seeking a career in health occupations, like Jessica.
