Wisconsin Freemasonry to Install AEDs in all Lodge Buildings

By Grand Treasurer Paul T. Tourville, PGM

The Wisconsin Freemasonry Leadership Team has announced a statewide safety initiative that will place an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in every building that houses a Masonic Lodge in Wisconsin.

Under the plan, 110 defibrillators will be installed throughout the state, ensuring that members, families, and guests have immediate access to life-saving equipment during meetings and events.

The initiative is being coordinated through the Service and Assistance Fund and reflects leadership’s commitment to the well-being of Wisconsin Masons and the communities they serve. By proactively equipping Lodge buildings with AEDs, the organization aims to provide critical support in the event of a cardiac emergency.

Leaders noted that Lodges frequently host not only members, but also youth groups, community gatherings, and public events. Having an AED readily available enhances safety for everyone who enters a Masonic facility.

Fundraising Opportunity Introduced

During the conference, an additional opportunity was presented for Lodges interested in supporting safety efforts through fundraising.

In partnership with Fire Suppression Solutions, Lodges may purchase cases of PAN-Safe and Stay-Safe tools to sell as part of a local fundraiser. Program flyers and pricing information were distributed at the event.

The initiative offers flexibility: lodges may use it to generate funds for their own charitable activities or, as demonstrated by Ladysmith Lodge, provide the safety tools directly to members of the public as a community donation.

Fire Suppression Solutions manages the program’s logistics, continuing its ongoing partnership with Wisconsin Freemasonry in advancing safety-related initiatives.

Together, these efforts underscore a consistent theme from the conference: protecting members and strengthening communities remain central priorities across the state.
