Waupaca Freemason Lodge (No. 123) recently re-leveled, set, and cleaned the headstone of the first Master of their Lodge in 1860, Dr. Linus Brainard, a well respected Doctor known to ride up to 20 miles a day to see patients. He also built a saw mill on the Waupaca River.

In 1862, at age 54, he volunteered to help the Union’s efforts in the Civil War as a surgeon and served from 1862-1865 with the 7th Wisconsin Infantry.

A re-dedication service is set for September 19, 2026.
