Lake Freemasons Join Riverkeeper® Adopt-A-River

On Saturday, June 13th, members of Lake Freemasons Lodge No. 189, Milwaukee gathered at Bayview Park on the Lake Michigan shoreline for something a little different: a Milwaukee Riverkeeper® Adopt-A-River cleanup.

It was our first.

Freemasonry has always called its members to serve something larger than themselves. For Lake Lodge, that call found a natural home on the shores of the lake that gives our lodge its name. It’s only fitting that Lake Lodge supports THE Lake.

Brother Andrew Martins cleans up the shoreline.

Through the Milwaukee Riverkeeper® Adopt-A-River program, Lake Lodge has formally adopted our stretch of the Bayview Park shoreline, committing to steward it throughout the next two years. Brothers, their families, and even Brother Sergio from Waukesha Lodge No. 37 showed up with his family on a June morning, grabbed gloves and trash bags, and spent three hours doing the quiet, unglamorous work that makes a community better.

Milwaukee Riverkeeper works to protect the rivers, streams, and watersheds of the greater Milwaukee area. Their Adopt-A-River program connects organizations like ours directly to the places we live, work, and gather.

This June cleanup was the first of two planned for 2026. Pictured above, from left: Shawn Athy, Andrew Martins, Jim Harpole, District 12 Deputy Matthew J. Konradt, Jesus Morales and Sergio Cortes and Lady Valeria Munoz (Waukesha Lodge).
