The Wisconsin Rapids Masonic Lodge recently conducted its 5th annual bike rodeo for the communities’ children ages pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. The rodeo is conducted in partnership with the Grand Rapids Lions Club — who graciously offers the use of its facility — along with the Wisconsin Rapids and Grand Rapids Police Departments and donations from our Order of Eastern Star and Widow’s Sons Keystone Motorcycle Club.
The event involves maintenance of each child’s current bicycle by a volunteer from the local bike shop, helmets fitted correctly or new ones provided, processing through the course with instruction by a police officer, refreshments, and a no charge raffle ticket provided for a chance to win a brand-new bike. Nineteen new bikes were raffled off including one adult bike. Children without a bike of their own are provided with a loaner to participate and many win a new bicycle.
This continues to be truly a heart warming and exciting event in the community.
