Lake Lodge Brothers clean up Milwaukee’s Bay View Park Beach

By Brother Andrew Martins

Brethren of Lake Lodge No. 189 traded the lodge room for the lakeshore recently, turning out for their second Milwaukee Riverkeeper Adopt-a-River cleanup at Bay View Park since adopting the beach.

The event is part of Milwaukee Riverkeeper’s ongoing effort to protect and restore the region’s waterways through hands-on volunteer stewardship. Having adopted Bay View Beach, Lake Lodge has made its upkeep an ongoing commitment rather than a one-time effort, a chance to put Masonic values of service into practice beyond the tiled room and give back to the same community the lodge calls home.

Volunteers spent the morning picking up litter along the shoreline, combing the beach for debris, and clearing out old burn piles and fallen logs. What began as a stretch of neglected beach was left noticeably cleaner by the time the Brethren wrapped up.

Thank you to WM Andrew Martins, WB Joshua Armstrong, DD12 Matt Konradt, Grand Secretary Mike DeWolf, PGM, and his Lady, Annie, for giving their time and effort to this worthy cause.

Their work is a reminder that Masonic charity takes many forms, and that sometimes the most meaningful service is as simple as leaving a place better than you found it.

As stewards of Bay View Beach, the Brothers of Lake Lodge (No. 189) look forward to many more cleanups to come and encourages Brethren interested in joining the effort to reach out.
